Ghatkopar Ghansoli Link Road
Every city requires basic infrastructure for connectivity. These connectivity may be in terms of road and rail. The connectivity may be by public transport or by private vehicle. The frequency of public transport is also very important. Recently, we have a lot of infrastructure activity going on in Mumbai Region. Projects like Eastern Freeway, Santacurz link road, Bandra Worli sea link, Metro One, Monorail has been completed by MMRDA. Many such projects are being developed and many such projects are under the pipeline. Some of the projects under pipeline are the Metro 2, Metro 3, International Airport in Navi Mumbai, Trans Harbour Link Road, Vashi Bridge, Ghatkopar Ghansoli Link Road, etc.
We are going to talk about Ghatkopar Ghansoli Link Road that is to be constructed by MMRDA. The project will be on PPP model i.e. Public Private Participation. This link will connect Ghatkopar in Mumbai near the Eastern Express Highway and on the other side it will connect Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai. It will be a 6 lane link road. This link road furthure extends from Ghansoli to Shilphata through Mahape. The construction has been already started by CIDCO on Navi Mumbai’s end. CIDCO is developing a 6 lane concrete road near Mahape which extends till Shilphata. The construction of the link road has to be started. Certain permissions are required for this. MMRDA is expecting to get the permissions by this year end. Once the permissions are in place, we can expect the construction to start. Once completed this will be the third link between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Already we have the Vashi and Airoli bridge which is operational for more than 15 years. The new link will decongest the existing links to a great extend. Moreover, people traveling to different parts of MMR will have a easy access.
The new link road will greatly boost the development of Palava city. Already Palava has a good connectivity through the Kalyan Shil road. Kalyan Shil road will also be developed in to a 6 lane highway. With this road operational travelling to Palava City will be a mere cake walk. Currently, reaching Palava City takes around 1 hour from South Mumbai. But with the operation of Ghatkopar Ghansoli Link Road this will reduce to a mere 30 minutes.
This link road will help the real estate prices in this area rise by 20-25%. Also this link road will help in overall development of this area.
